It was a great Mother's Day...this one was a more emotional one for me than in years past. I am not sure if it is because the kids are getting older and there is more communication ("I love yous", and significant social and cognitive development, etc.) Maybe it is because I am reminded of what a huge responsibility it is to be a Mother by the fruits or none fruits of my labor as a parent. Whatever the reason, I am soooo grateful to be Kate and Sid's mom and to be given the opportunity to mother them every moment of the day. I am also so gratefult to call Jeanette my mom and Linda my mother- inlaw. I don't think I will ever be able to verbalize the gratitude for them being my mentors and cheerleaders. Sorry for the sappy sentiments, but I just had to document it with these pics...
Kate's class put together a really special Mother's Day tea- themed with a bumblee bee, with adorable invitations- which I will treasure. They sang us a song about how they loved our hugs and kisses, Mrs. Frame read a Mother's Day book, and we enjoyed yummy food as we received boxes and placemats that the kids made for us. So sweet!
Bill, Linda, & Pepper came to town this weekend. We had a great time catching up with them and Uncle Jared & Aunt Ashli. Justin and I even got to go on a double date with Jared and Ashli on Saturday night! Whoohoo!
Here we are in the backyard enjoying some pink lemoade while Bill puts together the soccer goal that they got for the kids...they both love to kick the ball...
Justin made breakfast for us and Linda and I received some sweet gifts. Sid gave me a glass pig and Kate gave me a glass frog- here is a picture. No make up, in my pjs- oh well, I am a mom, right?!
Justin got the each of the kids a pair of Disney sunglasses...Sid sported his around the house this morning...
And lastly...our next door neighbors surprised us with a platter of freshly boiled crawfish, potatoes, corn, and andoille sausage!!!! What a treat! Here we are enjoying it... it was a first for the kids and I think Justin too. The kids looked at me with bright eyes as I showed them how the get the meat from the tail. None of them wanted to suck the heads. :-) They both really liked the crawfish...even though they were a little aprhensive to touch the entire crawfish.
It was the perfect Mother's Day! Thanks, family!
