We took a family road trip to Texas last week and had a great time. We spent the night at Nana "Nina" and Papaw's on the way. Kate had a ball flying a kite with Papaw. Here are some pics...
Nana kept Sid warm and cozy while they watched the kite...
What fun?!
We then went to Ft. Worth. My wonderful sister and sweet husband threw me a surprise birthday party! What a surprise it was...the best birthday I have had since I was little. What a blessing to have so many family members in one place. I was truly humbled that they would take time out of their schedules to come celebrate my special day. We ate at Joe T Garcia's (A family favorite) and Justin even had cake! Here are a few pics...
Yes, "Aunt Marta" did it! She sang me Happy Birthday "Marilyn Monroe" style. She does it every year on the phone, but this was the best yet- on a chair in front of the whole restaurant. I loved it!- Next year I am hoping for the table :-)
On Tuesday Gigi (who also surprised me by coming to Ft. Worth to help me with the kids) treated Jill, Em, Jax, Kate, Sid, and I to the Ft. Worth Zoo. It was hot, but a blast! Here are a few pictures of our day there...
After that all of the kids received a bath from "Emmy" and "Dolly"...here are some pics of Sid receiving his in Mimi's sink...
We had a visit with Aunt Cynthia and Uncle Jim...so fun...
We arrived home on Friday and Poppy came to stay the night with us on Saturday. He read and played with Kater and Sid. What a treat!

Sidney flipped from his front to back on Friday, April 25th at Gigi and Poppy's house. How exciting?! 9 weeks and flipping :-) He loves to push up on his hands/elbows when he is having tummy time and look around. (He looks like a turtle :-)) He must have been arching so much that he gave himself some momentum to flip. Justin got to witness the excitement.
Kate also started counting to 4 this week! She had just been going to 2 for a couple of months now and all of a sudden she said, "1, 2, 3...4!" Hooray! Now we are working on 5.
We also planted some herbs together this morning. Macy's Department store was giving them away for free to kiddos. This is a perfect example of why it pays to have a kid- free stuff that mommy likes! I usually pay good money for herbs every year, and they die every year...at least I didn't spend any money on these :-) Here are a couple of pictures...

We visited the Topeka Zoo this morning with some friends. We had a great time. Kater had been talking about the monkeys for 2 days. Here are some pictures from our morning.

Justin received the first on command smile from Mr. Sidney on Sunday, April 6th (6 weeks). We have caught glimpses of smiles while he is eating, drifting off to sleep, and just because. But, none in response to us. What a blessing for Daddy! Mommy still has not witnessed the royal smile.- I can't wait!
Hooray!! He did it! He slept through the night on Saturday, April 12th (7 weeks old). Here are some pictures of sweet Sid and Kater the morning after.
"Mom, stop taking my picture!! Yes, Cabby cover me!"
What a treat! Kate started sleeping through the night at 7 weeks consistently. I am not sure that it will be consistent for Mr. Sid. It appears that he is not as much of a night sleeper as Kate, but we will see. Ironically, at around 2:45AM (the usual time for Sid to wake for his night time feeding) the phone rang for Justin. It was a personnel situation for the early 4:30AM shift at Aldi. Highly unusual- in fact, I think he has only received 1 other phone call at a weird hour in the past 2 years. The luck, he sleeps through the night, but we don't. :-) Still, no complaints here-Praise God him sleeping through the night!

Here is Sid in the Japan outfit that Gigi and Poppy brought back for Jax. Sid is 4 weeks here!
Kate enjoyed some ironing with her new ironing board that Gigi and Poppy gave her for her birthday. I'm not sure if she knows what ironing is- as evidenced by her using the starch as hair spray. Mommy uses hair spray way more than ironing. :-)
Sid loves to be on his tummy- here he is at about 4 weeks...
About 5 weeks- enjoying his swing, watching Kate play...
Kate actually picked up her toys! It was worthy of a picture! :-)
Kater brushing her teeth before bed- she loves it!

Kate and I baked her birthday cake together. What fun?! She did a great job helping- the only "oops" was when she poured the egg whites on the floor. Oh well, at least we had more eggs. Sid watched us and seemed to be enjoying himself as well. The cake turned out yummy! As you can see...
Ok, so I let her lick the paddle attachment- it is her birthday! :-) After all, she only has dessert on special occasions.
Check out that tongue!
We enjoyed it on her actual birthday April 1st with a small family Birthday party with hats, of course after a Mexican feast.
Sid had fun at the party too!
She had a ball celebrating with Daddy!
She loves her little brother! What a great big sis!
No, he didn't really have any :-)

OK- I know it is past Easter, but I am way behind on updating our blog, so first thing is first. Then I will post more current things :-)
We visited the Parsons in OKC for Easter and celebrated Kate's 2nd Birthday with a "B--irthDay ParTTTy"- as Kate would say on Sunday with Gigi too. Here are some pictures from our visit.
OK Wood girls- I know, I don't have lip stick on- It was the only family photo :-)
Papaw and his grand-babies...
Kate loves to hold Mr. Sidney...
Kater hunting "Resurrection Eggs"
Daddy & Sid in their seersucker pants :-)
Gigi and Kater hanging out- Gigi made this dress for Melissa about 25-26 years ago. How special that Kate was able to wear it too! It is still adorable!!!
Easter brunch on Lake Hefner...
This present was received in classic toddler style...
"the anticipation..." "oh, how exciting, it's a big bunny!!"
"alright, thanks"- on to something else..."
Kate loves "Elmo"! She insisted that we all wear our hats- even Sid. When someone took their hat off - she quickly asked them to put it back on...
Poor little guy :-)
Make a wish!
She loved her "ParrTTy!"
