Justin put Kate's costume on and she immediately knew who she was and how to act. We were surprised. She was a puppy dog this year. She came downstairs and I complimented her on her outfit and she said "Doggie, doggie, woof, woof" then she proceeded to get on the ground and crawl like a dog toward Cabby. Cabby seemed to be fooled for a moment and sniffed her...see the pic below...
We tried to get some posed shots, but she was not interested. She was way more interested in the kids outside and the treats around...
We took her down the street to our friend's, the Burminghams, house... this is her first official trick or treat try... Justin backed up and she started crying, then Larry offered some candy and she took it and was intrigued. On the way home she figured out how to open the gummy Lifesavers and sucked on one the rest of the night...
I love candy!!!
She helped Daddy pass out candy to all of the kiddos- a much lighter group than we were used to in Potwin. I think it was a fun night and this probably will not be the last time Kate dresses up in the puppy dog costume this year. It was quite a hit!

5 years...wow, I can't believe we have been throwing this party that long. The first one feels like yesterday...We had a great time this year. Thanks to all who came and celebrated the fall season with us. Thanks Grandmommy for all of your help preparing for the party. Here are some pics from the party...
Justin and Kate getting ready for the party- she is looking at him above like, "Dad, you are so nerdy" I'm sure it won't be there first time. :-)
The Awards... "Least Creative" and "Pimpest"
Here are the food/ pics for my mom to see...
We had a little fire- thank goodness Sara, aka firewomen, was there to alert me and put out the flame. Candles by garland are not the safest idea :-)
Susan Salmans won the best pumpkin carved- "Precious"
Nathan and Susie Carter- "Least Creative" costume winners- they were "static cling"
"Pimpest" Costume award went to Melissa and Jason Gossard- or shall we say Bob Ross and his painting- so great.
There are many more pics...I will post them all for the party goers on another site soon...

Grandmommy came to visit while Justin was in Chicago. She helped us decorate and prepare for the annual Costume Party- what fun!!!
Kate and Grandmommy (Gigi- we started calling her this trip for short) having fun with decor after we made caramel dipped apples...
Gigi gave Kater a baby doll and brought Emily's old baby cradle for her to play with...
Here is Kate in her Rolling Stones t-shirt from Uncle Jared with her baby. She gave her baby some milk while they watched a little Elmo on TV. So cute...I think she will be a very nurtering big sis.
Gigi, Kate, and Mommy visited the Pumpkin Patch in Lawrence...here Kate is amongst the pumpkins...
She got a little scared of the chickens/turkeys at first....
It did not take her long to warm up to them...here she is getting on their level trying to call them...she does the same thing with dogs. Gigi is trying to pick her up and clean her off- her tights were black by the end of the visit. :-)
She is about 2 1/2 feet tall!
Kate modeled her fall dress given to her by Nana and Pawpa by one of the pumpkin topiary trees that Gigi made- thank you for all of the beautiful decor, Grandmommy!!!
