Grandmommy flew in from OK on Wednesday to help mommy and Kate prepare for her big weekend. Here Grandmommy and Kate are playing and baking in the kitchen...
Here are Grandmommy and Kate taking a break to read a book. Here Grandmommy is icing all of Kater's cookies for the party.
Mom's making a "sock it to me" cake with Kate and Cabby helping.
Aunt Marta and Gran Mimi flew in on Friday morning. We went to Atchison to shop and then came back to Lawrence to meet Daddy, Poppy, Papaw, Nana, and Grandma for dinner at the Parsons'.
Mimi and Kate both strolled around the Kansas City Airport. Kate thought that was pretty cool...
Taking a break from shopping after going to Nell Hill's...
Papaw and Kate catch up on some reading and coffee before getting ready for breakfast out with the fam.
Saturday morning we went to Massachusetts street to have breakfast at Milton's. Here we are waiting for our table.
Kate and Papaw had a lot of fun playing and strolling around Mass.
Saturday afternoon was the big event for Kate's b-day! Here are some pics from the party...
Presents!
Kater actually loved opening gifts- she did it all herself! :-)
Cake Time!
She was pretty apprehensive throughout the process...slow and steady (just in case she was not supposed to be doing this :-))

I need a bath!
Ugh...I think I had a little too much...
We had a great time! Thanks to all of our friends and family for the wonderfully generous gifts and for joining us for the celebration.

Oh yeah...he did all of these tasks by himself on Saturday. I know, we are all impressed, Justin. I just had to give him some serious props for all of his sweat and hard work!!!!! Thank you, Honey!
He hung these blinds on our door...
He fixed a running toilet...
He tore down an old step...
He built a new one in its place...
whoops...how did this one get in here? He looked pretty cute...
Now, Cabby can use her doggy door to get out in the garage and go through the one in the garage to go outside.
He built me a shelf in our closet so I will have room for more clothes...maybe I should go shopping now that I have this extra room? :-)

Kate has been experimenting with "Big People" food as we like to say in our house. She has tasted salmon, chicken, beef, pepperoni, etc. Today she decided it was good enough to make a meal out of it! Here she is eating her lunch. I put pictures of the stages of her eating, because it is so cute. Like Poppy would say, "She is like a surgeon eating her food." I know Kate is looking forward to breaking bread with you all soon!
